Biography

Actor, Writer, and Community Organizer

As a performer, Tolu Ekisola’s work includes collaborations with Nebraska Shakespeare, History Theatre, UC School of Medicine, Mixed Blood Theatre and Indeed’s Rising Voices. Tolu holds an MFA in Acting from the University of California Irvine and a Minor in ASL from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Tolu is also Manager of Community Organizing and Engagement at Mixed Blood Theatre responsible for building and managing partnerships, forming and engaging coalitions around issues, and working with MB cultural liaisons and advisory councils to recruit diverse participants. As founder and executive director of CAARE Production Company & Outreach Center, she wields the arts and digital media to activate global citizenship, empathy, and mobilization for Black and Indigenous people in her community. She has organized various community events, from clothing drives and language lessons to food drives and activism training.
